I am often asked – Lina, why does everything take so long, it’s just skirts! So, I will tell you about the entire “birth” process of the March2 skirt:
💜First of all, everything is born in the mind – the model and the image of how I would like the skirt to look. I also discuss my vision with the sewing technologist, whether it is really possible to implement that vision. My priorities are comfort, elegance, and quality.
💜Then comes a conversation with the pattern maker and the explanation of the vision. Using a special program, she constructs a pattern. The pattern is an auxiliary tool that helps to trace the contours of the skirt on the fabric. This is a rather complex and meticulous job because March2 skirts are made from size 34 to 44, which means the pattern must be constructed perfectly so that all sizes look the same.
💜The seamstress, using the pattern, traces the contours on the fabric, cuts them, and sews the first prototype. I am happy that the skirts are sewn by a seamstress with extensive experience, and I particularly value her advice.
💜That first skirt is usually mine 😊 We check how the fabric “lies” and wears, whether the pattern requires adjustments, whether everything is fulfilled as I imagined. If everything is great, then we show it to you, if not – we fix the pattern and try again.
💜And, of course, the search for fabrics – finding high-quality, beautiful, and attractively priced woolen fabrics is not always quick but possible. After all, I want the skirts to serve you for many years.
I will reveal a little secret – the next collection will be slightly different. By the way, the fabrics are from France – of very high quality, used by famous fashion houses for their creations.
With a smile, Lina
